30 Day Shred - Day Two!

Well, today has been one of 'those' days.

I woke up and thought, 'oooo feeling good, that exercise is doing me some good!' - then I moved.  O boy did things change when I moved!  My legs are aching something rotten, so things were on a bit of a go slow for the first hour of the day!

Anyway, I dropped my niece 'the little monster' off at nursery and took a nice hot bath and it sorted me right out, so by lunch time I was a spring chicken again.......which was a good thing as when I went to the nursery after lunch I slipped over and landed like a sack of tatties on me side - resulting in me springing up and hoping no one saw!  So I was back to aching again *shakes fist at Jack Frost*

I have been generally good today with my food, stuck to the plan and my only treats was a couple of slices of toast and some hot blackcurrant juice, but after the day I had I needed it to thaw my poor bones out!!

As for day two of 'The Shred' I have found it slightly harder, simply for the fact I'm aching quicker when doing the exercises.  My legs are the worst, in particular my calves, it's as if I've been running the great north run in the snow and I am in no fit state to walk that let alone run it!

It is slightly irritating having Jillian Michaels telling me to keep going and not quit when she hasn't even done the full routine herself!!  She's off critiquing her two helpers - tweedle dee and tweedle dum ... I like to think as the 'advanced helper' as tweedle dum, cause she must be daft as a brush doing all of this level on advanced mode!!

But I am persevering, I will see results!
Day Two Complete!

Day One: The End

So I have completed Day One and managed to stay on track with the Slimming World plan, so I'm very very happy!

I decided to be sensible and watch the DVD before I attempted it, well it seemed reasonable enough, not too difficult and Jillian Michaels didn't annoy me too much!
So I put my niece to bed, watched call the midwife and then bit the bullet and switched the DVD on.

Now in comparison to the three fitties I was watching, I was working out in a pair of pj bottoms and a vest top.....not very glamorous but hell, it beats getting all dressed up in gym gear and worrying about my hair at the gym!

Now I've started at level one, which you do for ten days and it really was a good work out; I was huffing and puffing a little by the end but I felt it work!  I didn't pass out or need copious amounts of water at the end though, so if I can do it then anyone can!

The only thing I will be changing is my hand weights, I felt that 2kg is just a tad too much for me at the minute and I'll feel it tomorrow, so I'm going to wuss out and go down to 1kg weights......please no one tell Jillian, I'm worried she'll dive out the screen and shout at me!

30 Day Shred Review - Day One!

Welcome to day one on my 30 day trek through Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD.  I am planning on this taking place from today, Day One - 20th January 'till Day 30 - 18th FebruaryI'm hoping you will be with me for this hopefully successful journey, so feel free to comment or even join me in the next 30 days of shredding!
I'm going to be doing this and try to eat healthy by following the Slimming World diet.  I'm hoping the mix of this diet (which I have seen results from before) and the 30 Day Shred will help me see serious results!

I'm wanting to do this to try and lose some weight, tone up and hopefully improve my general health.  I'm currently scoring on the BMI chart as 'overweight' at 28.7 and my waist measurement is also in the 'increased risk' area at 86cm.  I would love to see both these numbers fall, not just for the health benefits but also for the 'look good naked' benefits!

Now whilst doing this 30 day shred and diet I will also be going about my daily routine, which involves looking after (aka running after) my 15month old niece, attending university lectures, taking the dog for a daily 2 hour walk, doing charity work and generally procrastinating on the internet.

This is going to be a challenge for me, as I can't even be bothered to clean my 'floordrobe' and 'bedrobe' to allow easy access to my bed, opting for a very impressive Indiana Jones style secret path to my bed, which is clear enough to allow me to sleep.....so I'm curious to see how I cope with this exercise and lack of takeaway!

So every day I will update my blog with the previous days results, so Day One (today) will explain what I'm planning, Day Two will say how I did on Day One - if I managed the workout, got injured in the process and how well I stuck to the SW plan.  Well, that's the plan anyway, this may change if I get used to late night blogging, in which case I'll have a daily update!

I have taken key measurements and a photo to allow a day one and day thirty review to see if this works, so here I am at the beginning:

Height: 5ft6
Weight: 178lbs
BMI: 28.7
*All measurements are taken in centimetres and then converted to inches*
Arms: 30cm or 11.8 inches
Chest: 87cm or 34.3 inches
Hips: 100cm or 39.4 inches
Thighs: 57cm or 22.4 inches
Waist: 93cm or 36.6 inches

Let the 30 Day Shred BEGIN!
